FAQs

Where is the ceremony?
We're having a private ceremony prior to meeting everyone at Root, so we'll be freshly married and ready to party with all of you when we get there!

How did you come up with this plan?
Thanks for asking, we've been going back and forth on plans since our original plan was scrapped due to last year's situation. We wanted to celebrate in a joyful, safe environment with as many family and friends as possible. Given the current circumstances, we hope that we have come up with a plan that allows us to celebrate with all of you comfortably and joyously.

What's the dress code?
We suggest semi-formal dress. We want everyone to be comfortable while looking their best, understanding that the end of August poses challenges in terms of heat and humidity, so impress us with your summer's best, but that doesn't have to mean a full suit or floor-length dress. Also keep in mind that it may be cooler after sun-down on the boat.

Where should we stay?
There are a number of hotels in the Salem and North Shore area. We do have a room block at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Boston- Peabody. Check the Accommodations section here for more details and a link to book.

Who should I reach out to with questions on the day of?
Hopefully you'll be able to find what you need on this site, but if not, please reach out to Jena if you have any questions the day of the event. As much as Ryan and Joe are looking forward to seeing you that day, they probably won't be checking their phones often enough to help, so Jena is ready to answer questions and relay messages as needed.

What's the boat like?
The Hannah Glover is a dual-level, partially-covered ship, with plenty of room for a party, pictured here. It departs from Pickering Wharf, which is a short walk from the dinner venue. To board, you descend a ramp onto a long floating dock. The dock can be wobbly, but should be wide enough to accommodate everyone, provided they're watching their steps. The cruise will last for approximately two hours during sunset, and we're figuring out the seating situation and will update here when we have more info.

Where are you registered?
We're not! We're well established in our home and as such are fortunate not to need anything to start our married lives together. While we're not asking for or expecting gifts, if you'd like to bring something, we would be thrilled with a card or a contribution to our honeymoon fund.

What about parking?
There is ample, free parking at Shetland Park, which is where Root is located. We've been told that it's fine to park there for the duration of the festivities (dinner + cruise), but you cannot park there overnight. If you'd like to park closer to the boat, there are meters and limited parking at Pickering Wharf. There is also free street parking surrounding Salem Common, which is a ~10 minute walk from the terminal.
